Cinestill 800T in Northern Finland

On a recent trip to Northern Finland, I decided to shoot a roll of 35mm Cinestill 800T. Although the film is tungsten balanced, I decided against using a warming filter because I thought the films white balance would complement the snow and blue skies.

Leica Q - A 3 month review

The Leica Q is a compact, full frame, fixed lens digital camera which came out in 2015. It comes equipped with a Summilux 28mm 1.7 lens and unlike the digital M cameras, it has autofocus. The full spec and details are easily found across the web, but I wanted to share my experience of using one for the last 3 months. If you’ve been thinking about a Leica Q, hopefully you will find this real world usage review useful.

Ilford FP4+

January saw the first of the popular Film Parties being organised on Twitter, kicking off with Ilford FP4+. Its an ISO125 film, which is has a reputation for great tones and sharpness. I've not shot it often, so it was a good opportunity to buy some film and get out shooting.

Photo Books

In what may become a regular (ish) feature, I've decided to share a couple of my current favourite photo books. They aren't going to be full reviews, but will hopefully give a taster for the books, and maybe inspire you to take a look.

Spring and Summer Round Up

It's been a while since my last blog, so I thought I’d do a quick round up of the last few months, which have been a bit of a rollercoaster!

Inspiration and making the most of what's on your doorstep

Inspiration and making the most of what's on your doorstep

I'll be honest. I often get jealous of some of the places photographers seem to have on their doorstep. Anyone that follows Mark Littlejohn or Nick Hanson will know what I mean. A daily dose of dramatic landscape photography from the Lakes or Skye is both inspiring, and depressing at the same time.
